I’m an ordinary man

man on edge

i am an ordinary man
standing on the edge of the town square;

a rich man pass by
with the pride of his money
women are returning home
emptying the corner’s shop
people gather in the temple
worshipping the lord’s glory
but my eyes are on that boy
who is holding a small bowl
begging for his living;

when i was young, i said
“father, i go to city, work hard
and return home to pay debts.”
“mother, don’t cry for me
i will bring you red, beautiful Sari”

i came to city, became a porter
worked hard for little savings
one night,a messanger came to me and said
“look at that star, the bright one
your parents went their to live a happy life”

dreams were gone
young boy turned into a man
i am an ordinary man
standing on the edge of the town square.
